If you’ve ever wanted to make your own bulletin board letters for your classroom, Canva is one of the easiest tools to use. You don’t need to download fonts, install software, or mess with file formats—everything happens right inside Canva with a simple template that you can customize. Whether you’re creating a cute classroom quote, labeling student work, or adding a pop of color to your bulletin boards, Canva makes it easy to design exactly what you want.
How to Make Bulletin Board Letters in Canva
Start by opening Canva and searching for “letter frames” in the elements tab. These are alphabet-shaped frames that you can fill with any color, pattern, or image. Once you add the letter to your page, drag and drop any pattern or picture onto it, and Canva will automatically fill the shape. Below, you can see an example of the frames.
To find patterns, search the elements tab for “pattern background”, “marble background”, or even “boho rainbow background.” You can also upload your own designs if you have a specific classroom theme. The possibilities are endless! You can make rainbow, neutral, seasonal, or subject-themed bulletin board letters in just a few minutes.
You can also add borders to make your letters stand out even more. Select your letter, click on the “border” option at the top, and adjust the color and thickness to match your classroom decor. Try black or white borders for bold contrast, or coordinate with your classroom color palette for a cohesive look.
Why Use a Bulletin Board Letter Template Instead?
While Canva’s built-in letter frames are convenient, they aren’t always the cutest. That’s where my Canva letter templates come in. These templates are ready to use, come in two fun fonts (Mary Kate and Varsity), and include everything you need to make your own printable bulletin board letters.
Each set includes:
All uppercase letters A–Z
Numbers 0–9
Punctuation marks (periods, commas, and quotation marks)
Spanish accent marks, upside-down punctuation, and ñ
All you have to do is open the template, drag in your pattern or color, and download your finished design to print and cut. You can even sell your finished designs commercially if you make your own classroom decor products!
